We have started our journey from Rameswaram @ 4:00AM. It is totally around 310KM. So we have reached Thekkady by 10:00AM.
Exactly while reaching Thekkady, our car Tyre get punctured. Thank god!. So our driver dropped us in a restaurant and he went to puncture shop. We had our breakfast in Orchid restaurant. It was buffet breakfast and it was good in taste. After breakfast, we decided to visit Periyar dam. It is near from orchid restaurant
Entry Fees and Parking
In the Park entrance gate itself, we need to buy entrance ticket for the park. The entry fee is INR 30. For boating ,ticket should be purchase inside the park, which is near to the dam. Our car stopped near the toll gate. so we need around 1km to reach the boating point. Parking fee for a car is INR 50.

We bought ticket at booking counter only. Total cost of ticket for 2 adults and 1 digital camera is INR 480. But we can buy the ticket through online also @ www.periyarfoundation.org. Below is the boating timings
Boating Timing:- 7.30am, 9.30am, 11.15am, 01.45pm & 3.30pm. Total journey hour is 1 hour 45 minutes.

We boarded @ 11:15am . The boat is with two decks upper and lower. We got upper deck and everyone is provided with life jacket. So we no need to worry about safety.
About travel, if you like boat journey or this is your first boat travel, then definitely it is enjoyable visit for you. Because it is not 100% sure that you will see the animals during boating. It is depends on your luck. we saw many birds and two elephants only. And we saw few wild pigs. so don't expect more on this. Just enjoy the boat trip. We had lunch after finishing the boat trip in near by hotel. It was ok only. Neither bad nor good.

Thekkady Elephant camp :
After lunch, we visited elephant camp. Ticket price is INR 300. Actually there are so many brokers available outside of Periyar dam. They will approach you for the elephant camp. You can bargain the price. If you are good in bargain, then you will get price of INR 250 also. But if you directly to their pace, the ticket price is INR 350.
In Thekkady elephant camp, around 10 to 15 elephants are there. Ride is about 30 minutes, it was on big circle. During ride itself, the guide will take the photo and also. After finishing the ride, we can take photo along with elephant. Elephant will give nice poses by rising it is trunk. We enjoyed the ride.
Now time is around 4:30pm, so decided to leave to Munnar.
So in Thekkady we visited two places. But some more adventures are there like, Jeep safari, bamboo rafting. But you have to stay at least one more day. Thekkady is not that much excitement for me and we enjoyed in the same time
